Amazon Prime Video has officially renewed its television adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel Carrie for a second season, MovieWeb and Collider reported. Developed by filmmaker Mike Flanagan and produced by Amazon MGM Studios, the supernatural horror series is the fourth screen adaptation of King's 1974 debut novel. [1][3][8]

The renewal follows strong ratings performance for the debut season. Collider reported that Carrie topped the Nielsen streaming charts in its opening week, recording more than 1.2 billion minutes watched. Despite the high viewership, MovieWeb noted that audience reaction to Flanagan's reimagining of the source material has been divided. [1][3]

The series follows Carrie White, a secluded teenage girl who enters high school after the death of her father. She subsequently discovers her telekinetic powers, leading to her infamous rampage. The cast includes Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard. [8]

The adaptation expands on King's long literary legacy in screen media. King remains one of the most prominent authors in American publishing, although as FTMQ Books reported earlier, PEN America named him the most banned author in United States public schools for the second consecutive year in 2026.
