Black Spot Books announces new annual horror anthology for women writers

Black Spot Books has announced a new annual reprint anthology series titled The Year's Best from Women in Horror. Horror Society and IMDb both reported that the inaugural volume will collect horror fiction, nonfiction, and poetry written by women and female-identifying authors. The series is designed to celebrate, preserve, and build a lasting record of women's contributions to the horror genre. [1][8]

The inaugural anthology will be edited by authors and anthologists Lindy Ryan and Stephanie M. Wytovich. Both editors are award-winning authors who will select the outstanding works for the project, according to Horror Society. [1]

The announcement comes as digital library platforms track reader demand for horror titles. Book Riot reported that the digital library application Libby released data on its 50 most checked-out horror books following the autumn season, noting that six of the popular titles were written by nonwhite authors.
