The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers participated in the 19th Meeting of the Working Group on Provenance Research and Restitution in Libraries, Google News and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers reported. The conference took place from 21 to 23 September 2026 at Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany. [1][2]

According to Google News, the conference brought together librarians, provenance researchers, and specialists from cultural institutions. Delegates examined what institutions can reasonably expect of antiquarian booksellers when researching the ownership history of rare books. Discussions also focused on how libraries and the rare book trade can work together more closely. [1]

Google News reported that delegates also considered how institutions should approach objects whose ownership histories cannot be fully reconstructed. An antiquarian is a student or aficionado of antiquities, historic archives, and manuscripts who focuses on the empirical evidence of the past. [1][5]
