The 2026 fall regional bookseller trade show season concluded last week with the Heartland Fall Forum in Minneapolis, Publishers Weekly reported. The event ran from October 7 to October 9 at the Marriott City Center Hotel in the downtown area. It served as the joint trade show for the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association and the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association. [1]

Publishers Weekly reported that the gathering was packed with booksellers from across the Midwest. The high attendance reflected a post-pandemic surge in the number of new independent bookstores. This growth has also led to spikes in membership numbers for regional bookseller associations. [1]

Despite the strong attendance, ongoing supply chain issues affected the trade show itself. Publishers Weekly reported that shipping delays were a central topic of discussion among attendees and directly impacted the event. [1]

Publishing traditionally refers to making printed works, including books, magazines, and newspapers, available to the public for sale or for free. The process expanded in scope with digital information systems to include electronic books and online content. [4]
