Everyman’s Library celebrated the 120th anniversary of its founding and the 35th anniversary of its revival at Spencer House in London on Wednesday 21st October, The Bookseller reported. King Charles attended the event alongside 200 guests, which included writers, booksellers and scholars. [1]

The imprint was originally founded by Joseph Dent in 1906, according to The Bookseller. David Campbell and a small independent publishing team bought and revived the imprint in 1991 with backing from Random House UK and Alfred A Knopf US. Campbell, who serves as publisher at Everyman’s Library, held the original 1991 relaunch at the same Spencer House venue. That initial event was attended by Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Martin Amis and Isa. [1]

Everyman’s Library produces reprints of classic literature, focusing primarily on the Western canon. The series began in 1906 under J. M. Dent, which continues to publish Everyman Paperbacks, while Random House currently publishes the hardback line. [1][2]
