Filmmaker E del Mundo has presented her debut feature film project, titled Once Upon a Time in the Philippines, at the Asian Project Market. Variety Film and Variety both report that the market operates within the Asian Contents and Film Market at the Busan International Film Festival. The project is inspired by the 2009 Maguindanao massacre in the Philippines. [1][2]
According to Variety Film, the drama explores human complicity in political violence. Set in an invented locale based on the southern region of the country, the story follows a 19-year-old gas station worker named Sam. She is drawn into the events leading up to a political massacre, shifting from a bystander into an accomplice. [1]
The presentation follows other film project announcements at the same industry event. As FTMQ Books reported earlier, filmmaker Tribeny Rai presented her project A Chronicle of Minor Things at the Asian Project Market. Director Ryu Hyunkyung also presented her dark comedy feature project Dog Fight at the Busan market. [6][7]
