Author Zachary Mason has released his fourth book, a speculative short story collection titled Fabrications, Publishers Weekly reported. The book explores complex relationships between human beings and sentient artificial intelligence. Mason questions whether advanced artificial intelligence designed to serve humanity would ultimately help or harm the human race, rather than becoming dangerous villains. [1]

Mason worked as a computer scientist for technology startups until a few years ago, according to Publishers Weekly. He grew up in Silicon Valley and has maintained a fascination with artificial intelligence since childhood, reading popular literature on the subject. Mason skipped high school to attend college directly and spoke with reporters from his home office in the Berkeley Hills. [1]

The new fiction release addresses speculative questions about artificial systems that are programmed to assist humanity. Unlike typical science fiction tropes featuring hostile machines, Fabrications focuses on the nuanced interpersonal and societal dynamics between people and conscious artificial intelligence. [1]
