Veteran bookseller Anton O Broin was honoured by his fellow booksellers at the 55th Annual Wexford Book Fair on Sunday. WexfordLocal.com reported that the 87 year old resident of Kilrane received the recognition at the event held in the Talbot Hotel. [1]

O Broin was a founding member of the event at its inaugural gathering in Enniscorthy at the Murphy Floods Hotel in 1969. WexfordLocal.com reported that he helped relocate the fair to Wexford in the 1970s to align with the Opera Festival, personally securing an agreement in 1971 with the manager of the Talbot Hotel Wexford to host the venue. [1]

The Talbot Hotel has served as the home of the fair ever since. According to WexfordLocal.com, O Broin remains active in managing stalls that feature vintage postcards and leabhair as Gaeilge. [1]

The event takes place in County Wexford, a region in the province of Leinster, Ireland. The county had a population of 163,527 at the 2022 census. [1][3]
