Indigenous Canadian author Eden Robinson is introducing her new novel, Sorceress of Sky Serpents, at the Vancouver Writers Fest, which runs from October 18 to October 25, the Vancouver Sun reported. The publication marks her return to the fantasy genre. The novel is the first installment in a planned trilogy. [1][2][4]
The Vancouver Sun reported that the book is an intricate fantasy adventure set on a planet where non-human beings hunt survivors. Robinson acknowledged that the complex world-building created challenges for her editor during the project. [1]
Robinson is a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations in British Columbia, Canada. She was born in 1968 in Kitimat, British Columbia, within the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, and was raised in the adjacent Kitamaat Village reserve. The Haisla people reside in Kitamaat and consist of two bands, while the Heiltsuk people are centred on the island community of Bella Bella along the Central Coast of British Columbia. [3][4][5][6]
The author will appear at the Vancouver Writers Fest events throughout the festival period to discuss the new publication and her expanding fantasy series. [1]
