Blumhouse is developing a feature film adaptation of the indie video game Amanda the Adventurer, Deadline Film Adaptations and Variety reported. Jason Blum announced on Friday that creator Matthew Patrick, also known as MatPat, is developing the project. Variety and Deadline Film Adaptations both report that the adaptation is being created in partnership with production company Epic Pictures. [1][2]
According to Deadline Film Adaptations, Epic Pictures chief executive officer Patrick Ewald will serve as a producer on the film. Variety reported that the movie is based on the indie horror series originally created by developer MANGLEDmaw Games and published by DreadXP. [1][2]
The game follows a character named Riley Park who uncovers a sinister mystery tied to a fictional children's television show called Amanda the Adventurer, Deadline Film Adaptations and Variety reported. In the game's premise, Riley begins exploring the property after inheriting a house from her reclusive Aunt Kate, according to Variety. [1][2]
The puzzle and horror video game series was developed by MANGLEDmaw Games, published by DreadXP, and partially inspired by the children's television series Dora the Explorer (8). IGN reported that Blumhouse intends to move fast on the project and confirmed plans for additional indie horror game adaptations. [5][8]
