A new UK independent bookseller and publisher named Vanitas Press will open on 31 October 2026, Ginger Nuts of Horror reported. Founded by Vicki Donald, the business operates as both a bookshop and a publishing imprint. [1]

The online bookshop will focus exclusively on gothic literature. According to Ginger Nuts of Horror, its inventory ranges from classic authors such as Mary Shelley to contemporary writers including Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Catriona Ward. [1]

The launch date coincides with Halloween, a traditional celebration observed on 31 October that is widely associated with horror, the macabre, and the supernatural. In addition to bookselling, Vanitas Press plans to launch its own publishing imprint. [1][4]
