R.L. Stine novel series The Babysitter set for Tubi film adaptation

A live-action feature film adaptation of the young adult horror novel series The Babysitter by R.L. Stine is scheduled to release in 2027 on Tubi. GeekTyrant, The Hollywood Reporter, and Deadline report that the announcement was made during a panel at New York Comic Con on October 11, 2026. According to Deadline, the project will be directed by Trevor Calverley. The screenplay is written by Jem Garrard, who previously wrote and directed Pumpkinhead for the platform. The film is based on Stine's original book series, which was first published starting in 1989. [2][4]

The Babysitter marks the fourth title in an ongoing production deal between Tubi and Stine. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline both report that the deal already includes two Pumpkinhead films and the previously announced adaptation Afraid of Clowns. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Pumpkinhead 2 was released on October 9, 2026, just two days prior to the Comic Con announcement. [2][4]
