As FTMQ Books reported earlier, the National Book Foundation initially announced the finalists on October 6, 2026. The five categories cover a broad spectrum of writing, with fiction nominees including novels by Edwidge Danticat and Valeria Luiselli. [9]

Winners of the awards will be formally presented with their honours at the 77th National Book Awards Ceremony in New York City. Category winners will each receive 10,000 dollars, a bronze medal, and a statue, as FTMQ Books reported earlier. [8][9]
