Actors Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, and Adrianne Palicki have appeared in a campaign advertisement for Democratic candidate James Talarico, according to Deadline and Chron. The advertisement comes in the final push for the Texas U.S. Senate election ahead of Election Day on November 3. Chron and Deadline both reported that the advertisement features the actors repurposing the battle cry clear eyes, full hearts, cannot lose from the fictional Dillon team. [1][2][4]
Deadline reported that the release of the video marks the start of a Texas tour for Talarico. IMDb added that the campaign has also received backing from The Chicks, while Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has joined opponent Ken Paxton in the Texas Senate race. [1][3]
The television series originated from the 2004 sports drama film of the same name, which was based on the 1990 non-fiction book by H. G. Bissinger. The book and film follow the story of the 1988 Permian High School Panthers football team in Odessa, Texas, during their pursuit of a state championship. [5]
Talarico is a politician, Presbyterian seminarian, and educator who has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 2018. He is running as the Democratic nominee in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Texas. [7]
