The television show serves as an adaptation of Hadlow's novel, which continues the story of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The drama stars Ella Bruccoleri as Mary Bennet and Donal Finn as Tom Hayward, alongside a supporting cast that includes Ruth Jones and Richard E. Grant as Mrs and Mr Bennet. [1][3]

The initial series premiered on BBC One on 15 March 2026 and was produced by Bad Wolf. According to BBC News, the first series was filmed largely in Wales and drew 6.5 million UK viewers within its first 28 days of broadcast. [1][3]

The first series concluded with Mary Bennet agreeing to marry Tom Hayward. While plot details for the upcoming special remain undisclosed, the broadcaster teased questions surrounding Mary's new identity as Mrs Hayward following her marriage. [1]
