Weidenfeld and Nicolson has acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights to Slipskin, a queer coming-of-age folktale written by Lucy Rose, the author of The Lamb. The Bookseller reported that Alexa von Hirschberg, publishing director at Weidenfeld and Nicolson, acquired the rights from literary agent Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown. The publisher plans to release the novel in July 2027. [1]
The Bookseller reported that the novel will also be published in the United States by Noah Eaker at Harper. The narrative follows Mona, a 19-year-old living with her father in a caravan park located on a salt-bitten stretch of coast, where she works shifts at a local fish and chip shop. [1]
The acquisition expands the publishing portfolio of author Lucy Rose, whose previous work includes the novel The Lamb. The new book centres on the protagonist navigating her identity over a summer in a decaying seaside setting. [1]
