Director Luca Guadagnino premiered his film Artificial at the New York Film Festival on Monday night, Variety Film reported. Early reactions from members of the film press praised the movie as a provocative, visceral corporate drama, according to Variety Film. [1]
Variety Film reported that Next Best Picture editor-in-chief Matt Neglia described the film as entertaining and terrifying. Netflix Junkie reported that Guadagnino stated no artificial intelligence was used in the production of the film. [1][3]
The biographical comedy drama was written by Simon Rich and directed and co-produced by Guadagnino, who centers the story on OpenAI chief executive officer Sam Altman during his controversial firing and rehiring in 2023. Andrew Garfield stars as Sam Altman alongside an ensemble cast including Yura Borisov, Monica Barbaro, Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Chris O'Dowd, Ike Barinholtz, and Mark Rylance. [4]
