The Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency sponsored local publishing and printing industries to set up the Hong Kong Pavilion at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. According to reports from info.gov.hk and Bastille Post, the five-day trade fair ran from October 7 to October 11. The pavilion was designed to display Hong Kong's creative talent at the global event. [1][7]

The European Times reported that the 2026 edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair attracted 236,000 visitors. Other international delegates were active at the gathering, with Vietnam.vn reporting a focus on comics and graphic novels. The National noted that Arabic literature reached new readers through the event, while the Saudi Press Agency reported that the publisher Nasher showcased Saudi intellectual output. [2][3][4][6]

The Frankfurt Book Fair is considered the world's largest trade fair for book rights and content based on the number of publishing companies represented. The annual event takes place in mid-October at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds in Germany. The first three days of the gathering are reserved exclusively for professional industry visitors before opening to the general public. [1][9]

Regarding future editions of the fair, Agerpres reported that Romanian Culture Ministry official Andras Istvan Demeter is awaiting a proposal from the Romanian Publishers' Association regarding the country's attendance at the 2028 event. As FTMQ Books reported earlier, Romania is preparing to serve as the guest of honour at the 2028 fair. [5][12]
