HBO officially greenlit an original drama series sequel to Crazy Rich Asians in October 2026, Us Weekly reported. The show follows the hit 2018 film that was based on the 2013 bestselling novel by author Kevin Kwan. As FTMQ Books reported earlier, Adele Lim serves as showrunner and executive producer for the hour-long drama series. [1][3][5]

The upcoming television series will draw plot lines from the remaining books in Kevin Kwan's trilogy, according to Us Weekly. The project follows multiple delays that affected plans for a second feature film after the original movie was released nearly eight years ago. [1]

Original film stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh are expected to return for the sequel series, Us Weekly and FTMQ Books both report. The 2018 film adaptation was directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim, Wikipedia notes. [1][3][5]
