The Golden Globes has revealed its shortlist of 30 podcasts eligible for its second annual podcast award, Deadline reported. The awards show will hand out the prize on Sunday, January 10, 2027. [1]
According to Deadline, podcasts making the shortlist for the first time include Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, and Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast. Amy Poehler's show, Good Hang, won the inaugural Golden Globe award for Best Podcast. [1]
Yang joined the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live as a staff writer in 2018 and performed as a cast member from 2019 until his departure in 2025. He became the first featured player on the show to receive a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2021, the same year he was promoted to repertory status. [2]
O'Brien hosted several late night talk shows between 1993 and 2021, including Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and Conan. Prior to his career as a talk show host, he wrote for Saturday Night Live from 1988 to 1991 and The Simpsons from 1991 to 1993.
