Actor and comedian Reggie McFadden dies aged 57 in Tanzania

Actor and stand-up comic Reggie McFadden, who appeared on Def Comedy Jam and In Living Color, has died at the age of 57.

Actor and stand-up comedian Reggie McFadden has died at the age of 57, The Hollywood Reporter and MediaTakeOut both reported. McFadden's sister, Bernice McFadden, stated that the United States Department of State notified his family that he died in Tanzania, where he had lived for roughly 18 years. The Hollywood Reporter noted that his family does not yet know the date or cause of his death. [1][2]

McFadden was born on November 30, 1968, and grew up in Brooklyn, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He initially pursued comedy as a means to escape living in the public housing projects. McFadden eventually earned his major career breakthrough performing on Def Comedy Jam before joining the cast of the Fox sketch comedy show In Living Color for one season. [1]

Throughout his television career, McFadden appeared in numerous popular series, including Martin, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, Moesha, Coach, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Hollywood Reporter reported. Def Comedy Jam was an HBO series produced by Russell Simmons, Stan Lathan, and Bob Sumner that ran originally from 1992 to 1997, launching the careers of many prominent comedians. [1][3][6]
